Like many games, sports, and otherwise, NBA 2K24 uses microtransactions to entice players to spend money to enhance their character’s abilities and/or aesthetic. For those who don’t have much disposable income to spend on specific outfits or in-game currency to improve their abilities, this can make things frustrating and test patience.

PostsHowever, NBA 2K24 offers opportunities for VC (Virtual Currency) that don’t involve you plunking down real-life cash, particularly in MyCareer. Some of these are direct things you do to earn VC instantly, while others are indirect means to beef up your in-game bank account.
Play Your Games
This seems simple, and it is; playing games and your performance in them will boost your VC balance, which ranges from plays you make in games to simply your salary for playing in the game. You get one VC for each point you score, three for a 3-pointer, two for a regular field goal, one for a free throw — and multiple for other actions, like four for an assist and three for a rebound.
However, you must be careful, as you will also lose VC for negative actions like turnovers (-2 VC) and fouls (-1 VC). You also get a set amount of VC for each game as a salary, along with endorsement bonuses (more on that in a bit) and VC based on your Teammate Grade.
Build Up Your Fanbase
Positive actions you take in games will increase your total number of Fans, and sometimes you will see the actual number that increases with a shot of the crowd, showing a big number (sometimes you’ll also see a Tweet praising your previous play). However, the majority of the time your player box at the top right of the screen will say “+FANS.”
During Team Practice, look for the two people in suits standing behind and off to the side of one of the baskets. Those are reporters, and participating in an interview will earn you 500 Fans without doing any shooting, rebounding, passing, or defending.
You don’t get VC simply by adding Fans; the more fans you get, the more and better endorsements you are eligible for. Earning an endorsement will get you one big lump sum of VC, and each endorsement offers you one or moreincentives for hitting certain milestones in a game, like a number of points or Teammate Grade.
Follow NBA 2K On Social Media
Every so often, the NBA 2K team will post Locker Codes on its X (formerly known as Twitter) account. These codes will cover various items, like special clothing for your MyPlayer, opportunities to increase XPs, and Locker Codes for free VC. Sometimes you have to be quick, as some codes are only redeemable by a low number of players, but others are available to everyone, and even though it may not make a big dent in what you’re trying to do, every little bit helps.
Playing In The Neighborhood
Playing games against strangers on the internet may not be for everyone, but it certainly offers you many opportunities for VC without spending a dime. For example, if you go to The Rec and play a game, you will earn VC just like you do in a season game with your professional team, and other game modes across The Neighborhood offer similar rewards.
