Don't Expect To See Anything New From Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Anytime Soon

Back in December at The Game Awards presentation, PlayStation and Naughty Dog set the collective Internet ablaze when it closed out the ceremony with a reveal of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the newest title from Naughty Dog that would see multiple renowned actors play a role in the game.
In the time since its reveal, we've had a number of rumors about what to expect from the game, including word that it would be inspired by Elden Ring. Still, there hasn't been anything as massive or substantial as that initial reveal trailer, and it sounds like it's going to stay that way for a while.
There's A Lot Of Moving Parts When It Comes To Naughty Dog Games
In a new interview with Variety, Neil Druckmann discussed a variety of topics, including his abrupt exit from HBO's live-action adaptation of The Last of Us, as well as his return to game development on a more full-time basis.
When asked about where Naughty Dog as a studio is at in the development process for Intergalactic, and whether fans would hear or see more of it at a State of Play or similar presentation, Druckmann had this to say:
What can I say and not say? I can tell you we’re in the thick of it. We’re making it, we’re playing it. We’re firing on all cylinders. I’ve said this before, but I really mean it, I’m really feeling it right now: It’s the most ambitious game we’ve ever made. It’s the most expansive game we’ve ever made, maybe the most expensive, by the time we finish it.…
As far as when we’re going to show stuff, I’m so antsy to show it and talk about it because the trailer that we showed doesn’t even scratch the surface of what this game actually is. But announcing a game like this, especially when it’s new IP, especially when it’s coming out of Naughty Dog, you’ve got to coordinate with marketing, with PR, with a bunch of people. So it’d be foolish for me to say when we’re gonna show something right now.
In other words, it's probably going to be a while before we see anything again about the game, simply due to all the moving parts that exist outside of ND's own scope. Given how unlikely the game is to release anytime soon, perhaps that's a good thing. Or maybe we're all just coping.
