Seemingly out of the blue, a brand-new Naruto trading card game just got announced, with a release date for 2027, and a future tease coming in late July. The biggest and most exciting aspect of the game, however, is that it's backed by Bandai Namco, something the other active Naruto TCG can't boast.

With the popularity of games like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon at an all-time high, and brands boasting the revenue to match, it's not surprising to see a property as huge as Naruto receive another shot at a mainstream TCG. However, it is shocking that this announcement comes out of the blue when there's already a Naruto TCG that seems to be working hard to make a name for itself around the world.

New Naruto TCG Announced, More Details Coming Next Month

The reveal of a new Naruto TCG is shocking for a few reasons, firstly because there is already an active and relatively new Naruto TCG on the market, called Naruto Mythos. Secondly, this TCG is also produced directly by Bandai Namco, so there's an immediate sense of legitimacy to this game, given that Bandai Namco has been instrumental in the release of recent Naruto video games.

While details are thin on the ground for now, we know from the short teaser trailer that the Naruto TCG is slated for release in 2027, and more info about the game will be coming on July 29.

This is the day before Gen Con, and if you're attending the event, you'll have the chance to go hands-on with the game in its first public outing, as tutorial sessions will be run across the duration.

If you take part in one of these sessions, you can bag yourself some very cool merchandise, including a promotional card, a backpack, and a purchase ticket for a playmat that is scheduled to release alongside the game in 2027.

You can register for these sessions on the Gen Con website starting June 21; a limited number of tickets will be available for each day. Future sessions will take place at events around the world with precise dates and locations to be confirmed.

What's Happening With Naruto Mythos?

With the second Naruto Mythos set to be released in the UK and Europe in August, and a third set slated for release in November of this year, Naruto Mythos is growing in popularity and demand with each month. So, it will be quite a shock for Cicaboom to see a new Naruto TCG hitting the market, with the backing of a company like Bandai Namco.

I can only assume that both TCGs will co-exist for the short term, but it's hard to see a future where two TCGs based on the same property are both successful in the current collectible market.
