- A fan has already taken it upon themselves to redesign Noob, while Netherrealm has already promoted a classic Noob Saibot skin as a preorder bonus.
Friday proved to be an eventful day in the Mortal Kombat world. That's because during the game's 2024 San Diego Comic Con panel, a second Kombat Pack was confirmed, featuring the likes of Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian and Terminator 2's T-1000. On top of that, the Khaos Reigns story expansion was also revealed. Oh, and Animalities are back. Like we said, eventful.
Chief among Friday's announcements was that fan favorite ninja Noob Saibot would be returning as part of the second Kombat Pack. He'll also serve as a pivotal character in the story expansion, too. Great news, right? Well, sort of. When Noob was revealed, his signature purple and black color palette was swapped for green and black, and not everyone was happy about that.
Noob Saibot In Action In Mortal Kombat 1People also weren't happy with the Kombat Pack as a whole, or the fact that Sektor and Cyrax are females in this timeline. But right now, we're focused on Noob. And so, a dedicated Mortal Kombat fan took it upon themselves to redesign Noob in his classic digs.

Taking to Reddit, fan Intelligent-Rope1251 shared a redesign of Noob featuring the classic purple that fans have come to love and expect. Naturally, of course, Noob looks right at home with the green swapped out for majestic purple.
Check it out:
Of course, the real reason why Noob is green and not purple likely has a lot to do with Havik. Saibot says in the Khaos Reigns trailer that "He perfected me." And with Havik having pseudo-green undertones, it appears that the green of MK 1's Noob has a lot to do with some sort of corruption.
That said, there's also the whole element of microtransactions to consider. MK 1 has had a plethora of in-game purchases available, many of which have featured classic costumes. In other words, the classic version of Noob will no doubt be available down the line.
The preorder bonuses of MK 1's Khaos Reigns packHeck, technically speaking, he's already available. As part of the Khaos Reigns preorder bonus, gamers can get instant access to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Noob Saibot, which has him in his traditional threads. There's no doubt that other skins will be available, so the green likely won't last very long among hardcore fans.
Either way, it's always interesting to see the reception a redesign receives within a community. For a long time, Mortal Kombat has established various colors being linked to particular characters, like Scorpion being yellow, Sub-Zero being blue and Reptile being green. Noob happened to have a monopoly on purple and black, though, it's clear that NetherRealm is trying something new out here. We'll see if it works out, but, at the very least, Noob is back, so that's worth celebrating on its own.
