Monopoly Go: Pod Racers Rewards Guide (May 1-5)

May the racing force be with you this weekend in Monopoly Go as we dive into the first team event of the new Star Wars sticker season with the Pod Racers event, running between 1PM ET on May 1 and 4PM ET on May 5.

There are plenty of stickers on the line in Pod Racers this May the Fourth weekend for the new Star Wars season, and there are tons of other Star Wars cosmetics to be won not only as grand prizes at the end of the weekend, but as lap rewards in Pod Racers along the way.

Earn Tokens From Other Events To Win Pod Racers Prizes

For the Pod Racers event this weekend in Monopoly Go, the first stage of the event is the team-up stage. On May 1, teams were selected (or players opted into playing solo for slightly lower rewards - it is a teams event, after all), and the first race of the weekend will assign you a color and pit you against other racers.

In order to race during the Pod Racers event in Monopoly Go, you'll need to accumulate Pod Racers tokens from other in-game events and rewards, such as:

• The daily leaderboard tournaments that pit you against 99 other players in pursuit of tons of cool rewards like free dice rolls and extra sticker packs along the way as you collect Pod Racers flags.
• Any center banner events we play during the Pod Racers event weekend - the one's that are displayed just below your current cash total on the main game screen. These tend to be longer than the leaderboards but with more milestones to make up for it. Between these and the daily tournaments, you can win hundreds of free Pod Racers tokens!
• Collecting your in-game store rewards when they refresh every eight hours, providing plenty of freebies along with another infusion of flags.
• Finishing all of your daily quick win goals during the course of the Pod Racers event, since you'll reliably earn a good number of free flag tokens for completing these three simply gameplay tasks. Not only do you get all these free Pod Racers tokens, but there's a purple sticker pack waiting on Sunday for those who finish all their quick win goals!
• Choosing to receive free Pod Racers flags from your lap rewards during the course of the event.

Once you've got the tokens in hand, head into the Pod Racers event screen to get started on the weekend's competition.

How To Play Pod Racers

You'll see your team's pod for the Pod Racers event in Monopoly Go on a sandy track up against three other teams. Throughout the weekend, we'll be participating in three individual races before the point totals are tallied after the final races. Rewards will be given out on May 5 after the final race, decided by your overall points earned across the three races.

We're seeing the return of two newer power-ups as lap rewards for Pod Racers, with both Lucky Rocket and Overload on the menu this time around. When you open a lap reward, which you'll do periodically as your team completes the number of laps shown near the starting line, you might open either of these perks, which offer one of two boosts:

Lucky Rocket

Every player on your team will receive the Lucky Rocket boost, which makes it so that when you next roll for the Pod Racers event, you'll only roll a four, five, or six.

This is a great time to increase your dice roll multiplier, since you're guaranteed to roll anywhere from 12-18 even before factoring in any double of triples multipliers you might earn - best to compound while you can and go all in on Lucky Rocket boosts in Pod Racers!

Overload

Send a ball and chain to one opposing team to slow them down, since being hit with an Overload means all dice rolls are halved. You'll need to roll several times to break the chain and free yourself from the Overload, but it's a massive help to use on another team. If another team is close to catching up to your, hit them with an Overload to slow them down as you increase the gap without the Overload penalty.

Use a good combination of smart multipliers and active playing to increase how many points you and your team will earn throughout the weekend during the Monopoly Go Pod Racers event, since there are plenty of cool Star Wars-themed prizes on the list of prizes, as well as plenty of sticker packs to help get you started on the new sticker season on a strong foot.

There's no right way to play the Pod Racers event in Monopoly Go, but first-place teams might end up with an early target on their back for the Overload penalty, especially if the race is close. You can also choose to target pther teams who are close to overtaking yours to prevent them from doing so, or hit the team ahead of you with an Overload while you Lucky Rocket ahead.

The top three teams will receive a new shield skin featuring a Pit Droid from Star Wars, while the first place team will also win a new board token of Jabba the Hutt. Along the way, though, you'll also find plenty of new emojis reminiscent of Star Wars as lap rewards throughout the weekend.

Send Messages To Your Team

For the first time in team events since we started playing Monopoly Go, we're now able to communicate directly with teammates in the Monopoly Go app throughout the course of the Pod Racers events. You can't talk to the other teams - only your three teammates. Your list of emojis is also still available to send to teammates if you're better with emotes than words.

You'll choose from pre-written Star Wars-themed messages that convey a variety of things, like encouraging teammates to spend their flags or hold them for the next race, cheer on the team's push for certain positions throughout the weekend's races in Pod Racers, suggest specific lap rewards for everyone, and even comment on the progress of the race so far.

While this is the first time we've got a way to communicate past emojis, you still can't exchange custom-written messages with your team for Pod Racers in Monopoly Go in the in-game app. There are plenty of online communities, like the Monopoly Go subreddit or discord, that encourage partnering up with other players from said communities.

If you've got players on your friends list that you know in real life, it's always good to team up with them during racing events so you can communicate more effectively on how to divide and conquer the event.
