How To Play Crystal Treasures

The dig events in Monopoly Go are definitely a fan favorite, and for a reason - you've got plenty of chances to find prizes buried beneath the earth, even outside the 20 total milestones of the event itself, since there are a good number of free pickaxes and dice rolls littered around as well.

You can collect more pickaxes for Crystal Treasures in a variety of ways, like:

  • Participating in center screen events and the right-side daily tournaments, all of which will offer plenty of free pickaxes as milestone rewards throughout the duration of each event.
  • Completing your Daily Goals, adding free pickaxes to the usual slew of free dice rolls and extra cash you receive for finishing these three small, daily goals.
  • Finding them as you dig on the current Crystal Treasures board, since they might be hidden beneath the dirt on tiles that don't cover treasure.
  • Milestone rewards in Crystal Treasures will sometimes offer a few free pickaxes to get you started on the next board.

Overall, your goal is to find and dig up the items shown in the box at the top of the screen during the Crystal Treasures event. Sofia shows you the outline of the object, and then it's up to you to get to digging and actually find them within each grid. It takes at least one pickaxe to excavate one tile of earth, but tiles with rocks take more hits to clear, so be mindful when you're clicking around trying to find the item you're looking for.

We once again see the return of the moles that excavate tiles around them automatically when you uncover them as you dig! These little guys will clear all the tiles in a pattern around where you found them - either all the tiles vertically, all the tiles horizontally, or the eight tiles in a circle around itself - so the more of them you unearth, the better.

Since you can only clear one tile at a time with the Crystal Treasures pickaxes, you'll almost always uncover a piece of the item and be able to tell which direction it's facing from there. Pieces of treasure in the Crystal Treasures event come in varying sizes, with each of the 20 levels requesting a different subset of items in varying sizes. Uncover one piece at a time and clear tiles you know have treasure beneath them first to prevent wasting pickaxes on tiles without anything beneath them.

Each of the 20 milestones comes with a reward, but some of the best ones in the event are the Crystal Crest shield skin with an amethyst-looking Monopoly M emblazoned within it, as well as the Twinkle Tail token, a cute little axolotl you can use as tokens as you spin around your Monopoly Go boards. These are available after boards ten and 17, respectively.

Along the way, you'll also receive thousands of free dice rolls and bonus sticker packs in varying colors. We just kicked off the Marvel Go sticker album season last week, so this event provides a great chance to get ahead there. You may also receive a couple of free Crystal Treasures pickaxes, too, to replenish the ones you lost clearing your board. Any milestone with multiple rewards has a vault on the progress bar, but each vault contains a number of sweet Crystal Treasures rewards.
