Each Minecraft seed generates a nearly endless world for you to explore, with every block configuration to infinity and beyond. But that's boring, so let's go to another world. Vanilla Minecraft has two alternative dimensions to (almost) endlessly explore—the Nether and the End—which hang above the Void.

PostsThere are plenty of mods that incorporate alternate worlds accessible only through portals or rituals or even an unsuspecting door standing alone. Most of them are pretty wacky, defying the usual laws of physics and biology, but that means new loot to hunt down, too.
Updated April 5, 2025 by Jacqueline Zalace: Minecraft has two dimensions, but with the power of mods, you can add so much more. We've updated this list with a few more Minecraft mods that add new dimensions to the game.
16 BetterEnd

Before diving into brand-new dimension, let's expand on an existing one. BetterEnd does exactly what it sounds like; it makes the End better! With this mod, the End will be just as lush and bountiful as the overworld.
This includes over 20 new biomes, as well as tons of new blocks for you to build with. Additionally, BetterEnd adds new mobs that you can interact with. Overall, this mod adds a lot of content, letting you spend hours exploring this revamped dimension.
15 Ratlantis

Do you wish Minecraft had way more rats? If you are one of the few who have thought about this before, then you are in luck. Ratlantis transports you to a world filled with rats after going through the mysterious Ratlantis Portal.
Once through, you can unlock rat-based upgrades and weapons, such as the wonderfully named Rattling Gun. Ratlantis has new bosses for you to defeat as well, including The Rat Baron, who appears in a biplane.
14 Advent Of Ascension

Next, we have the Advent of Ascension mod, which adds so much new content, it's almost an entirely different game. Along new mobs and equipment, you can enjoy two new dimensions, called Precasia and Nowhere.
Precasia is a "prehistoric" biome where you can find archaic creatures, such as Smilodons and Horndrons. Nowhere, on the other hand, is essentially a giant structure that's quite difficult to navigate; Elytras won't even work here! Overall, Advent of Ascension is a great way to shake up vanilla Minecraft.
13 Gaia Dimension

While the Gaia Dimension might not seem all that different from the base game's overworld at first, you'll quickly discover that practically everything in this alternate dimension is made up of crystalline fibers, including the soil and entire forests.
If you delve underground, you'll come across phenomena even more farfetched, like blue magma and unfamiliar gemstones. Don't get ahead of yourself, though; the materials needed just to get to the Gaia Dimension end up being pretty costly, requiring heaps of Lapis, Redstone, and gold to make multiple Keystone blocks.
12 Astral Dimension

The Astral Dimension features over ten new biomes, like Lunar Spikes or the Faded Electric Swamp, and plenty of unique structures, including ominous floating fortresses or heavily guarded Amethyst Sanctuaries, which contain valuable loot if you're up for a fight.
On top of that, you'll discover interesting new blocks and mobs, like Jelly Glass and Ghost Jellyfish, respectively. If you end up having a tough time surviving, you could always throw in a satiating food mod since you're already playing custom content in the first place.
11 Dimensional Dungeons

While the rooms and floors you explore in Dimensional Dungeons might not impress all of you, at least in an aesthetic sense, this dimension will likely earn your respect in another way: everything inside is procedurally generated and, consequently, limitless.

PostsAdditionally, this dimension limits what you can build or break, making it rather ideal if you enjoy playing adventure mode or escape maps in the first place. In other words, you usually can't avoid mobs, you can't "cheese" different obstacles, and you'll have to use your brain to solve puzzles.
10 Advanced Mining Dimension

For some of us, Minecraft is simply a way to zone out and explore while stockpiling precious minerals and coming across amazing world gen. As the game has developed, so too has the joy of simply mining, and the Advanced Mining Dimension is a brilliant place to take advantage of it without depleting the resources close to your base.
If the name doesn't clear things up for you, it really is just an entire dimension made up of twisting caves, ore-rich ravines, and impressive underground systems. The latest release is on 1.19.2 and includes the Cliffs and Caves update. To access this miner's delight, simply craft a teleporter out of a Stone Pickaxe and some Wood.
9 Extra Planets

Mining isn't the be-all and end-all of Minecraft, though, as Extra Planets proves. Bring up your intergalactic map by pressing 'M' and scroll through the moons and planets of the universe, highlighting important information about each one, including resources and radiation levels.
Build space stations as outposts, as well as rockets and other vehicles in which to explore these alien surfaces. Discover the unique traits of each planetary body, including the pressure, temperature, and length of the day. Improve your space suit to stay safe and meet the locals or even the things that lurk beneath.
8 Deeper And Darker
Deeper And Darker- Download Deeper And Darker Here!
With the release of the Deep Dark in 1.19, we found ourselves in the ancient lost city deep beneath the mountains, guarded by a terrifying creature that hunts by smell. Plenty of players had theories about who built these structures and where the giant portals led to. Deeper and Darker aims to explore what our imaginations have conjured up.

PostsTo travel to the Otherside, you'll need to activate the center portal found in vanilla cities. But to see anything when you get there, you'll first need to defeat the Warden, who now drops vital loot such as the Warden Carapace, granting night vision. The mod adds plenty of other items, such as Netherite armor upgrades, building blocks, and Sculk Transmitters. Look out for the Ancient Temple, as that's where the best loot, and scariest mobs, reside.
7 The Bumblezone
The Bumblezone- Download The Bumblezone Here!
Everyone loves bees; they're not necessarily what players had imagined when the Mojang team announced their arrival, as they're certainly very large and blocky, but you can't deny how cute they are. For those of us who just can't get enough of their fuzzy butts and big blue eyes, you can visit an entire dimension within their hives, the Bumblezone. Obviously, destroying any blocks or hitting a bee will enrage any nearby.
Angering these little guys is a bad idea, as even full diamond armor won't hold them back. Luckily, all the loot here is bee-themed, and an armor set with flight can be uncovered from mazes hidden around. If you bee-friend some inhabitants, you can hold them in a bee cannon, ready to shoot at mobs to spread the bees' wrath. There are even three new enchantments for weapons, and Bane of Arthropods is actually useful now.
