To unlock the Faker Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you'll need to gain a follower named Alonzo. He'll introduce himself as Cuculus, but, well, surprise - his name's Alonzo. This involves completing a quest, reaching a particular Kingly Virtue rank, and more. The payoff is an emotionally turbulent arc and a bevy of gameplay rewards.

How To Unlock Alonzo As A Follower

Getting Alonzo as a follower involves a good deal of work. We actually have a full guide covering how to unlock Alonzo and the Faker Archetype, which we recommend you check out instead.

But for the gist of it, look for the 'Pompous Man' in Martira Castle Town. You can't miss him - he's got blue hair. Conversing with him triggers a cutscene, but you'll need Imagination's second rank, 'Inspired', to proceed.

From there, you gain a new quest. Complete the quest to get Alonzo as your follower.

All Alonzo Follower Ranks And Rewards

As a reminder, conversation options don't need to be answered "correctly" in Metaphor: ReFantazio in order to advance your followers' ranks. This is in direct contrast to Persona's social links. Instead, you gain differing amounts of MAG per your picks.

The eighth rank is unusual in that you must speak with someone other than Alonzo. Head to Angler's Inn Square, and locate Datarum.

That said, make sure you do the quest afterward for additional closure to Alonzo's story. You won't want to miss this scene!
