The party first meets Metaphor: ReFantazio's paripus bounty hunter, Catherina, early in the main storyline. Thereafter, her follower ranks are trickier to unlock - some will occur naturally, but in surprising fashion, while other, later ranks will require you to seek her out yourself.

How To Unlock Catherina As A Follower

Catherina is one of the easier non-party-member followers to unlock, as she introduces herself during the early-game Regalith Grand Cathedral dungeon, and automatically becomes a follower of yours.

Simply follow the main story until the objective involving locating her friend. Report back with your findings, and a bond will be forged.

All Catherina Follower Ranks And Rewards

Unlike in the Persona series, conversation choices in Metaphor: ReFantazio don't influence whether you'll rank up with your allies. This will happen no matter what you select.

Instead, you gain varying amounts of MAG to spend on Archetype growth based on your selections. It's far less demanding, then, but still worth looking into if you're seeking to maximize things.

Catherina is a bit of a wildcard as Metaphor followers go. For her second through fourth ranks, ranking up with her means crossing where her pink Gauntlet Runner is currently located on the map. Simply heading to optional dungeons and the like will prompt these engagements.
