Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater does not lack in boss fights, even if it's a game that can be completed in a relatively short amount of time. Each of these boss fights is wildly different from the next, and they're going to require their own strategies to get through unscathed.

The End is the boss fight that's going to require the most patience. That makes sense; it's a boss fight against a sniper, and that variety of combat requires a significant supply of patience if you're going to find success. And, if you play your cards right, you'll come out of this fight richer than you entered it.

How To Avoid The End's Attacks

The End is going to be posted up in different spots across the area to snipe you. He's going to be difficult to see, but there will be a slight glint reflecting off the lens of his rifle scope, giving him away.

You will get an audio cue before The End shoots at you. It's possible to dodge his shot, but there is always a chance that he's still going to hit you.

If you go to your Map, you'll find the different locations where The End could be set up circled. This can help you plan your route through the area a little bit more intelligently, letting you know which directions you'll need to look out for to avoid walking into his crosshairs. Keep to cover, and move carefully.

The End fires tranquilizer darts at you, meaning if you're hit, you'll be spending more effort maintaining your stamina than you are waiting for your health to regen. Either way requires eating food, but this at least dodges the waiting/healing portion of taking actual damage.

How To Defeat The End

There are a few different ways to deal with The End, with three of those ways possible now, and one of those ways actually possible way before this.

  • Shoot The End when you first see him near the dock. You can kill him with any weapon here, but at that range, your best bet is to use the SVD.
  • Shoot The End to death from a distance.
  • Sneak up on The End.
  • Wait for The End to die of old age. (No, really.)

Shooting The End from a distance is the most straightforward way to take care of him, though it could take even longer to deal with him this way than it would be sneaking up on him. The End can be tremendously difficult to track down, and you could spend a lot of time trying to spot him without him spotting you.

Giving your own position away by firing into the air is actually a good way to shorten this process. This way, The End is definitely going to get into a position to take a shot at you, which does mean you'll have a chance at taking a shot at him, too.

This is the riskiest method of killing The End, because it puts you in the line of fire regularly.

How To Sneak Up On The End

There are multiple different areas where The End fight can take place; basically, if you walk into a new area and you can still see The End's health bar at the top of the screen, you're still in the right area.

He will use all of these areas to traverse, and you'll need to use these to sneak up on him, too. Tracking him down with the directional mic and/or thermal vision is going to make this a bit easier, and you'll need to explore these areas a little bit to get an idea of how to get around.

Use these paths to sneak up behind The End, slowly and quietly. Hold him up by sneaking up behind you with your weapon drawn and keep aiming at his head, and he'll drop his Moss Camo, which is the best camo in the game.

Keep sneaking up on him and dealing heavy damage to him with this method, and it's actually going to be the safest and quickest way to take care of him.

If you do this but take him down non-lethally, you'll also obtain his non-lethal Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle.

How To Wait For The End To Die Of Old Age

As soon as the boss fight starts, you can also simply wait for seven real-life days for him to die of old age. You can either do this by literally waiting for seven days, or by setting your system clock up by the right amount of time. You won't get any of the rewards for killing him, but dead is dead, and he won't be a problem for you anymore.
