And, while there are already 21 confirmed characters for NetEase's upcoming hero shooter, players have just found references to two more potential additions.

Spider-Gwen Could Swing Onto The Roster

With Marvel Rivals releasing as a free-to-play title, the expectation is that NetEase will continuously add characters and skins as the game evolves. Two of these new characters could have just been teased in the game's ongoing beta.

The first, Spider-Gwen, unsubtly appears on a giant drum kit found on the Spider Islands map. The kit is adorned in Gwen's famous pink and white, with a pair of familiar eyes and a "Gwen" sticker appearing on the bass drum.

With Spider-Man already in the game, some discussion has taken place online as to whether Gwen would be a skin for the Friendly Neighborhood Spider or whether she'll appear as a character in her own right. It wouldn't be the first time that NetEase has teased a skin, with Bag-Man appearing in the 2099 map before the skin was revealed so the jury is still out.

Deadpool Could Join The Party

Deadpool's teaser is a little harder to find than Spider-Gwen's, with the Merc with a Mouth appearing on a small sticker on Marvel Rival's Shibuya Level.

The inclusion of Deadpool makes perfect sense, and NetEase could look to capitalize on the release of the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie to build hype around the character.

The beta's battle pass has four mystery rewards, which has players speculating that one of those spots could be reserved for the R-rated superhero.

Following a closed beta earlier this year, 20 other potential characters were datamined, but both Gwen and Deadpool were absent from that list. The list did include multiple characters that have now been confirmed for the game, including Rocket Racoon and Venom, alongside a host of other Marvel heroes. These ranged from the full Fantastic Four roster to Squirrel Girl and from Captain America and The Winter Soldier to Jeff The Land Shark.
