Clue (or Cluedo) is one of the most famous board games of all time. It's got countless editions, a rather excellent movie, mobile games, and now even a Magic: The Gathering standalone product.

Ravnica: Clue Edition isn’t quite Clue, and it isn’t quite Magic. Sitting somewhere between the two, it’s a standalone game you can play right out the box, combining the best of both games into a murder mystery brawl for up to four players. Running concurrently with the Murders at Karlov Manor preview season, here’s every card revealed to be coming in Ravnica: Clue Edition.

What Is Ravnica: Clue Edition?

Ravnica: Clue Edition is intended to be played as its own, standalone game, and can effectively be described as playing both MTG and Clue at the same time.

If you’ve ever played Jumpstart, you’ll have a rough idea of how the Magic side works. The box comes with eight randomised packs, each containing 20 cards based on one of Ravnica’s ten two-colour guilds. You and three friends each pick two packs, open them up, and shuffle them together.

All the cards you find in Ravnica: Clue Edition are fully legal in Magic’s regular game. Anything you pull here is legal in Vintage, Legacy, and Commander, and includes a mix of new and reprinted cards. This even includes the evidence cards that sit outside your deck when playing with the Clue rules.

On the Clue side, you also draw a second hand of three of 21 evidence cards, containing a culprit (such as Master Plum or Commander Mustard), a weapon, and a location. Whenever an opponent deals combat damage to you, they can take a guess at what’s in your second hand. If they get any right, they go into your confidential folder. This way, you can win in two different ways: smashing in Magic, or being the last player to not have their evidence cards sussed out.

Once you’re tired of the decks made in the box, you can keep hold of the evidence deck and use it for practically any other format as an augmentation, much like Planechase.

Syndicate Heavy
