By the end of Magic: The Gathering's Dominaria United, Dominaria has been overrun by the Phyrexians. With sleeper agents everywhere and Karn nowhere to be found, it's up to Teferi and Saheeli to uncover how the plane last survived an incursion by looking back to the days of Urza and Mishra. For the first time ever, we finally get to see what actually happened in one of MTG's biggest conflicts, The Brothers' War.

A new set means a new season on Magic: The Gathering Arena, and with it a new Mastery Pass. With 80 levels of rewards to unlock, here is everything you need to know about The Brothers' War Mastery Pass and its Mastery Tree.
What Is the Magic: The Gathering Arena Mastery Pass?
Myrel, Shield of Argive by Ryan PancoastThe Mastery Pass is MTG Arena's equivalent of a battle pass, allowing you to earn rewards by playing the game, earning XP, and leveling up.
Like most other battle passes, there are two 'tracks': the free version, which is available to all players, and the paid-for unlocked pass, which offers almost twice as many rewards, but costs 3200 gems. As the closest gem bundle you can buy is the 3400 pack, this means the Mastery Pass costs approximately $19.99 to unlock.
Unlike most battle passes, though, there is also a third set of rewards, known as The Mastery Tree. These rewards are unlocked using Mastery Orbs that are earned through the traditional pass, and includes exclusive cosmetics such as card styles and sleeves.
The Mastery Pass typically ends with the launch of the next major set. With Jumpstart 2022 not coming to Arena, and Phyrexia: All Will Be One not launching until February 2023, it is possible that The Brothers' War's pass could be a spectacularly long season.
How To Level Up The Mastery Pass
Autonomous Assembler by Slawomir ManiakTo earn rewards on the Mastery Pass, you will need to collect XP and level up. There are two ways to do this: purchasing levels and completing quests.
The first way is the easiest, as you can use gems to buy XP directly through the Mastery Pass page. Click or tap on the level you want to skip to, and you'll be prompted to pay gems to skip straight to it. Each level costs 200 gems, meaning you will need 20,000 gems to unlock the full pass from level one.
The second way, and the way most players will be completing the pack, is by completing daily and weekly quests.
At the bottom of the main menu, you will see a number of quests, such as casting spells of a certain colour or destroying a specified amount of creatures. These are the easiest quests to earn, but it is recommended that you have at least one deck of every colour to ensure you can complete them each day.
These refresh each day and, while you won't lose uncompleted quests, it does mean you don't get new quests, costing your opportunities to farm more XP. Each quest rewards you with 500XP and 500 gold, which means completing every one of these each day will net you one and a half Mastery levels.
The other type of quests are the daily and weekly wins. These are less efficient ways to farm XP, but can give much more than the daily quests if you finish them. The daily wins quest will give you 250 XP per win for the first 15 wins of the day – a total of 3750 XP. Winning 15 games can be a big time sink, but will net you almost four levels on the pass.
Weekly quests, meanwhile, will also give you 250 XP per win, but only reset at the start of the week for a much slower gain. Critically, this stacks with the daily wins, and so the first 15 wins of the week will earn you 500 XP – or seven and a half levels' worth of XP.
When grinding Mastery XP, your priority should be completing the daily quests, as lots of these don't require you to actually win. Simply playing with the right colour decks can net you a decent chunk of XP, and hopefully chip away at your daily and weekly wins at the same time.
The Brothers' War Mastery Pass
Titania, Voice of Gaea by Cristi BalanescuLike Dominaria United's, the Brothers' War Mastery Pass has 80 levels, each needing 1000XP to unlock.
The free track only has rewards up to level 66, with 33 Brothers' War booster packs and five Mastery Orbs, which is not enough to fully claim an entire track of the Mastery Tree.
The full pass has a lot more on offer, including cosmetics like the Urza Automaton Avatar, and the Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor exquisite sleeve available at level 70. You'll also receive booster packs from every current Standard-legal set, from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt right the way through to The Brothers' War, gems to slightly recoup the cost of the pass, and gold that can be used to buy more booster packs.
