The catch is that if you want to unlock everything the mastery pass has to offer, you need to play a fair amount of Magic Arena before the pass expires upon the next set's release. You unlock mastery pass offerings by earning XP (experience) from finishing games.

The amount of XP you can earn is capped in daily and weekly increments; you earn 250 XP for your first 15 games of Arena won every week. Additionally, you also earn 25 XP for your first 15 games of Arena won every day, so hitting your weekly XP rewards is a lot more important than the daily ones.

You can also earn bonus XP from special events and limited-time queues, so keep an eye out for these if you want to maximize your mastery pass rewards.

The final way to earn XP is through quest completion; in case you're not already aware, you can only ever have three quests active at a single time. If you don't already have three quests active, a new quest will be added to your quest log every day, so in other words, make sure you're consistently completing your quests!

Always re-roll quests worth 500 gold if possible. There's a chance that you'll get a quest that rewards more gold and XP instead!
