It’s fairly common to see games like My Time at Sandrock offer a skill tree of some kind, and Sandrock’s skill tree is not only varied but wide on every branch. With four individual categories to build up as you play – combat, gathering, socializing, and working at your shop – your builder will be the best-rounded in no time.

It's time to say howdy to My Time at Portia's much-anticipated sequel.
PostsPerks for upgrading your skill tree in Sandrock range from bonus experience to more money, all the way to mastery of your four skills. Here, we’re breaking down all the Knowledge Points in My Time at Sandrock to help you plan ahead.
What Are Knowledge Points?
Beginning when your builder reaches Level Five in their experience, you'll unlock a new tab in your pause menu - the Knowledge Points tab. The icon for it looks like an illuminated lightbulb on your menu.
In My Time at Sandrock, Knowledge Points are tangible ways to note that your builder is learning new skills. You earn points for gaining experience in each of the four categories, and each category has its own, separate well of points.
You'll use Knowledge Points to unlock new perks in that category that make your builder's life just a bit easier. These four categories are:
- Gathering has to do with your resource-gathering and how you interact with the world around you. The symbols for it are green.
- Workshop, which progresses the more you build at your workshop. It's coded in blue.
- Combat levels up the stronger your builder becomes, either by fighting enemies or sparring with your neighbors. These perks are the ones with yellow symbols.
- Social takes your interactions - platonic and romantic - with the citizens of Sandrock into account. These are labeled in pink.
When you're doing various activities around Sandrock, pay attention to the list of rewards for each activity in the bottom-left corner of your screen. You'll often see Knowledge Points crop up here as you complete other milestones.
To the right of your quick bar, when you see a lightbulb, it means you've got unspent Knowledge Points!
Putting Points Into An Upgrade May Unlock More Upgrades
Each of the Knowledge Point upgrades you can get in My Time at Sandrock will have betweenone and three tiers before it's fully unlocked. You get a new perk for each knowledge point, with the best one coming with the last Point you spend.
You don't have to spend all your Knowledge Points on one perk at a time - you can diversify your skills as you see fit. You can always max out a perk later if there's something else you'd really like instead!
And as you spend your Points, if there's a line connecting that perk to another perk that's grayed out and marked with a "?" instead of an image, then another tier of perks unlocks in a similar vein to what you've just finished.
You can then spend points on the new tier as you wish, but keep in mind that some of these rewards will also unlock another subsequent tier once you invest in them, too.
