Shadows Over Innistrad: Remastered is a Magic: The Gathering Arena-exclusive set. It features cards from both Magic: The Gathering's Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon sets, combining the two into a unique Limited experience. The set also features cards from the original Innistrad set block in a rotating list for limited titled Shadows Of The Past.

While not many Shadows Of The Past cards will be Explorer legal, the entirety of the Shadows Of Innistrad list will be. Since it is a Pioneer-legal set, Explorer shares the same list of legal cards as Pioneer, so long as they're on the client.

10 Vessel Of Nascency

Vessel Of Nascency is a solid enchantment that helps decks that want cards in their graveyard. Since you can cast it as early as turn one and get its effect off by turn two, it works relatively quickly. You can put a plethora of card types into your hand, and the one you didn't choose from the top four cards go into the graveyard.

Vessel Of Nascency sees a lot of success in Abzan (green/white/black) Greasefang decks as a way to dig through your deck to gain access to Greasefang and get Vehicles into your graveyard to revive with it.

9 Thalia, Heretic Cathar

A solid card that only hampers your opponent's strategies, Thalia, Heretic Cathar is a solid three-drop. You get a 3/2 with first strike for your troubles, which slows down your opponent by making all their creatures enter tapped. Since Explorer's mana base is so good, the odds of you running into decks only playing nonbasic lands isn't too uncommon.

While Thalia, Heretic Cathar doesn't see much play in the main deck, it's a very strong card in the side deck for Mono White decks to bring in against decks that are not playing many if any basic lands.

8 Traverse The Ulvenwald

Traverse The Ulvenwald is perfect for self-mill decks. Without hitting its delirium threshold, it simply searches out a basic land. While this effect is okay, what makes Traverse The Ulvenwald so good is when it has delirium. This makes it so you can search for any creature or land card, not just basic land.

Since self-mill decks put so many cards into the graveyard, it becomes trivial to hit the delirium threshold. This allows you to tutor out for any creature or land you may need for the given gamestate. Traverse The Ulvenwald is great in Abzan Greasefang decks, as it lets you easily get to your Greasefang.

7 Declaration In Stone

Declaration In Stone is a way to mass board wipe creatures that all have the same name. It does give your opponent a Clue token for each creature that was exiled, but that's worth it when you can potentially wipe the battlefield of a lot of creatures for just two mana.

Declaration In Stone is commonly found in the side decks of White Weenie decks as a way to counter other aggro decks such as the mirror match or Mono Red that play four of multiple creatures to punish the lack of creature variety.

6 Sigarda's Aid

A staple of Hammertime decks, Sigarda's Aid is the perfect support for Aura and Equipment decks. Sigarda's Aid only costs one mana, and since it's an enchantment it's much harder to remove compared to other card types. Whenever an Equipment enters the battlefield, you get to ignore its equip cost for free and put it on a creature.

Hammertime decks have grown stronger in Pioneer, and Sigarda's Aid is one of the missing pieces of the Explorer build. It utilizes cards like Kemba, Kha Enduring as another way to equip Colossal Hammer for free and Cacophony Scamp to deal burn damage after attacking while equipped with Colossal Hammer.

5 Pieces Of The Puzzle

Pieces Of The Puzzle is a way to dig through the top of your deck while adding two instant or sorcery cards to your hand. Though it costs three mana and is a sorcery itself, the cost is worth it when you get two cards out of it and kill your dead draws. If your deck wants cards in the graveyard, Pieces Of The Puzzle becomes even better.

Pieces Of The Puzzle is a large part of the Izzet (blue/red) Phoenix deck, and one of the main missing pieces in Explorer. With its addition into Explorer, Izzet Phoenix is much closer to its Pioneer version.

4 Spell Queller

Azorius (white/blue) Spirits is a very common deck in Explorer, and Spell Queller is one of the few Spirits missing that's played in the Pioneer version. It's a way to counter a spell in a deck that loves having counterspells. Even though your opponent can cast the spell when it leaves the battlefield, it's not uncommon for this to not come up thanks to how much self-protection the Azorius Spirit deck has.

Since Azorius Spirits wants to be casting most of their spells on your opponent's turn, Spell Queller having flash allows it to slot easily into the deck. Not only is it another body on the battlefield, but it's another counterspell you can slot in.

3 Eldritch Evolution

A creature tutor is almost always going to be good, especially one that puts the creature right onto the battlefield. That's exactly what Eldritch Evolution is. It is a bit narrow, as the creature has to have a mana value that is two higher than the creature you sacrificed for Eldritch Evolution's cost.

For Explorer, Eldritch Evolution has a strong home in Abzan Greasefang, as it not only gets you to Greasefang, but can trigger your Stitcher's Supplier to dump more cards into your graveyard. With its inclusion, the Pioneer version of Abzan Greasefang has fully been added to Explorer.

2 Selfless Spirit

Selfless Spirit is a phenomenal card and one that can give protection to all your creatures by sacrificing itself. Since it has no other cost to use its effect, once Selfless Spirit hits the battlefield you can sacrifice it at any point to give all your creatures indestructible for the turn.

The card slots in perfectly to creature decks. It's a Spirit and is a great fit in the Azorius Spirits deck to protect all your creatures and take advantage of the boost to Spirit creatures in the deck. It's great in White Weenies as well to protect your board of low-mana creatures from board wipes.

1 Thing In The Ice

Thing In The Ice is a fantastic card for spellslinger decks that want to be casting a ton of instant and sorcery spells. You can get it down early for two mana, and once it flips over you get a 7/8 creature for your troubles that bounces back all other non-Horror creatures to the hand.

Thing In The Ice is played in decks that run a lot of cantrips — spells that cost one mana for a beneficial effect to flip it as quickly as possible. It's most common in the Izzet Phoneix deck, and one of the key cards missing from the strategy from the Explorer build.
