How to Defeat Bell Beast in Hollow Knight Silksong

The Bell Beast is the first real boss you will face in Hollow Knight Silksong, and it will definitely put new players to the test. While not the most complicated, it requires you to learn some fundamentals. Here’s how to beat the Bell Beast boss in Hollow Knight Silksong.

Bell Beast Boss Location

You can find the Bell Beast near the top of the Bone Bottom and Marrow regions, where you buy the map from Shakra. Use the bench to her left and head upstairs to the right to the room full of bells to start off your first proper boss fight. It’s a much harder fight than the Moss Mother.

Bell Beast Attacks and How to Counter

The Bell Beast has 4 basic attacks that you can counter easily once you understand how they work. But beware, as it does 2 points of damage per hit, making mistakes very costly.

Charge Attack

The first basic attack is the charge attack. This is a slow and telegraphed attack where the ground shakes on the far left or far right, and the Bell Beast will show itself for a few seconds before charging at you. Simply jump over it and try to get some chip damage with your down aerial attack. If you’re good enough, you can land two.

Jump Attack

The jump attack is much more sudden and dangerous as the Bell Beast will shake the ground and suddenly leap towards you. When you see the ground shake, start walking towards it, and you’ll automatically avoid the jump. Then turn around and attack its tail two or three times, depending on how quick you are. The move also gives you a good window to heal.

Double Bell Throw

This move can catch you off guard if you’re playing too aggressively. The Bell Beast shakes the ground near the middle and pops up, launching two rolling bells to either side. It’s best to play defensively, walk away from the bells, and jump over them.

Bouncing Bells

Once you get it down to half health, it roars, and bells will start falling from the ceiling. The Bell Beast retains its moveset, but now you need to watch out for environmental hazards falling from above. It’s best to stay focused on dodging when you see these, as you’ll already have grasped the Bell Beast’s moveset. At this point, victory is only a matter of patience.

With some smart movement and calm decision-making, you can overcome the Bell Beast and begin your Hollow Knight Silksong journey in earnest.
