Wuthering Waves crashing on start up fix, explained

The issue of WuWa crashing on start up seems to be isolated mainly to Androids. Usually, with Gacha games, players will download the game from the app store. This is nothing more than downloading a launcher, as when you start up the game, you’ll usually have to download the bulk of it through this method.

Unfortunately for Android users, the ability to download the rest of the game is locked away, as the game repeatedly crashes when attempting to open the game. The developers quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the issue and give players a swift fix hours before the full game went live. The sooner you can make sure your game works, the sooner you can hop into the game and try multiplayer.

Dear Rovers:
Some Android users may experience crashes on start-up after downloading the game. We've addressed this issue with a patch. Players experiencing the above problem can resolve it by uninstalling and reinstalling the game to access it normally. We sincerely apologize…

As you can see, all you have to do to remedy this issue is uninstall and reinstall the game from your respective storefront. For most Android users this is going to be the Google Play Store, and the process should be fairly straightforward.

So if you downloaded Wuthering Waves on Android, or any other platform that it’s available on, to prepare for the full release but never opened the game, you should check and see if it works. I know I had to double-check my download as it seemed to be getting stuck at 99% once I was able to open the game.
