Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 is officially live, and Epic has completely flipped the meta on its head with the return of Sprites. These adorable companions are the core of your strategy this season, and many players find themselves asking one question: which Fortnite Sprite should you choose first? Which Starting Sprite Should You Choose in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3?

You should choose the Earth Sprite as your starting Sprite in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. The reasoning behind this lies in the functionality of each of the starting Sprites. Here is a breakdown of each starting Sprite and their abilities:

  • Fire Sprite: Creates a fiery burst when you deal a certain amount of damage to an enemy player. Best for aggressive playstyles.
  • Water Sprite: Automatically replenishes shields while standing or swimming in water for both you and your nearby Squad. Best for team players and survivalists.
  • Earth Sprite: Gives you a random chance to spawn additional, higher-tier rare items whenever you open a standard Chest. Best for RNG.

While each of these Chapter 7 Season 3 Sprites sounds useful, the Earth Sprite reigns supreme. This is because choosing the Fire Sprite will force you to engage with enemies to get value out of it. With the season being fresh, everyone is extremely aggressive while learning the new Fortnite loot pool. So, if you seek out a fight just to get use out of the Fire Sprite, you will likely get sent back to the lobby and lose your Sprite in the process.

Meanwhile, the Water Sprite can be phenomenal, especially in team modes. However, its utility is completely locked to the map’s terrain and geography. If the storm closes on a region in the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 map where there is little to no water, your Sprite becomes completely useless.

The Earth Sprite, on the other hand, gives you value immediately upon landing, completely risk-free. By boosting your chest loot, you immediately get a chance to come across powerful weapons and items like the Seven Sliders faster than anyone else. Better loot means defending yourself becomes much easier, and so does taking out your enemies for the Victory Royale.

That’s why it is better to start with the Earth Sprite, gather some Sprite Dust, and then use that to buy the Fire or Water Sprites once you are ready for the hunt.
