Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 has introduced a huge shift in the island’s core gameplay loop, revealing new Sprites and extraction mechanics. Among these new mechanics are the Fortnite Extraction Gizmos, which make extracting more of a breeze than a headache. Here’s everything you need to know about how Extraction Gizmos work.

What are Extraction Gizmos in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3?

Extraction Gizmos are non-tradable consumable items in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. Much like the Golden Fireworks item introduced in Fortnite Community Day, the Extraction Gizmos occupy the same slot as your Pickaxe when you drop from the Battle Bus.

The primary purpose of Extraction Gizmos in Fortnite is to help you with extracting Sprites during a match. They can shortcut, fast-track, or supercharge your Sprite extractions, depending on the Gizmo you are using. Instead of forcing you to cross the map to Extraction Sites, Gizmos can give you a much more tactical option when extracting Sprites.

That said, here is a breakdown of all of the Extraction Gizmos in Fortnite and what they do:

Extraction GizmoFunctionPortable ExtractorSummons a personal extraction point anywhere on the island.Lucky LocatorTracks down a buried chest containing a Sprite missing from your collection.Extraction Site BoosterSpawns a crate that hyper-levels any Sprite extracted within its zone.

Remember that the Lucky Locator and Extraction Site Booster Gizmos are not in the game currently. Epic will add these items as Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 progresses.

How to Use a Portable Extractor in Fortnite

As mentioned, all three Extraction Gizmos function differently in Fortnite and provide different benefits. The only Extraction Gizmo available in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 is the Portable Extractor.

As the name suggests, it allows you to essentially carry an Extraction Site in your pocket. Here are the steps you can follow to use the Portable Extractor:

  • Find a Sprite in chests, floor loot, or through Sprite chests around the Chapter 7 Season 3 map.
  • Make sure the Sprite is equipped.
  • Equip the Portable Extractor through the pickaxe slot (Hold Y/Triangle on controller and L on PC).
  • Wait for 5 seconds while your Sprite extracts.
  • Equip Portable Extractor.
  • Extract Sprite.

If you follow these straightforward steps, you can extract your Sprites from anywhere on the map. However, make sure that there are no enemies around, as the process leaves you vulnerable for 5 seconds.

How to Get More Extraction Gizmos in Fortnite

You can get more Extraction Gizmos in Fortnite by mastering Sprites and purchasing them at Extraction Sites. Since Extraction Gizmos are such a useful mechanic in Chapter 7 Season 3, you can’t just find them lying around in chests and floor loot, unlike items like the Seven Sliders.

The primary way to get more Extraction Gizmos is mastering Sprites, which players can do by extracting Sprites at Max Level 5. This will allow them to progress through the Sprite Mastery track, which grants multiple Extraction Gizmos.

Apart from the Sprite Mastery track, players can also get more Extraction Gizmos from the Sprite Dust Services at any Extraction Site. If you have a surplus of Sprite Dust leftover from successful extractions, this is a great way to always be equipped with a Portable Extractor.

It is important to note that your Gizmo inventory persists all season long, between matches. However, they cannot be dropped or traded, and you won’t lose them if you get eliminated.

We will update this article as Epic adds more Extraction Gizmos to the game throughout the season.
