I Played Marvel Rivals' Avengers: Age of Ultron Mode for Hours – These Are the Best Characters
The Avengers have assembled once again in Marvel Rivals, and this time they must face Ultron, who has taken over the Avengers Tower. Players can choose from seven powerful Avengers to clash against Ultron and his robotic army in Avengers: Age of Ultron mode. So if you are wondering who the best characters are in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Age of Ultron mode, we have ranked all seven playable heroes from best to worst.
All Marvel Rivals Avengers: Age of Ultron Mode Characters Ranked From Best to Worst
The all-new Avengers: Age of Ultron mode was added in Marvel Rivals Season 9. All seven playable Avengers’ kits have been slightly adjusted so players can battle Ultron and his army of Sentry bots without hassle. In addition, players can equip two upgrades after each wave to significantly boost their abilities’ destructive power.
After trying out the different heroes in the Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode, here are all the characters ranked from best to worst to beat Ultron fast in Marvel Rivals:
Iron Man

Tony Stark, the creator of Ultron, is easily the best character in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode. Iron Man can obliterate his creation with his improved kit. For example, the new Micro Missile Barrage ability is perfect for bombarding the swarm of Sentry bots and drones from a distance. With missiles auto-locking, you just have to keep pressing the primary fire button to let hell rain down.
You can continue to upgrade his Hyper Velocity Rockets to swiftly dodge all incoming projectiles, be it from the bots or Ultron himself. An upgrade like “Long-Range Lethality” allows you to sit back and keep shooting at a distance, dealing significant damage. Lastly, Iron Man’s Invincible Pulse Cannon, one of the best Ultimate Abilities in Marvel Rivals, can wipe out Ultron’s army in the blink of an eye.
Hulk

Next up, we have Hulk, who completely switches to Hulk Smash mode in the new PvE mode. He is the best tank character in Marvel Rivals: Age of Ultron PvE mode. Let me explain why. Hulk has his regular kit, but the upgrades have turned him into his most lethal version. For example, the Infinite Fury upgrade lets him stay in his monster form as long as he takes out an enemy.
So, technically, you can stay in Hulk’s monster form throughout the mode and easily clear all the waves. In addition, several other upgrades like Bowling Club let you unleash Gamma energy while dealing Melee damage. His Gamma Quake jump ability comes in handy when you need to escape after getting surrounded by a horde.
The only downside of playing Hulk is the struggle to reach Ultron in boss battles. Nevertheless, he is a team player who can manage the Sentry crowd while allowing his teammates to take care of Ultron.
Hawkeye

If you are wondering why we placed Hawkeye higher on our ranked list, once again, it comes down to his upgrades. By selecting the right upgrades, Hawkeye can transform into one of the most powerful Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode. During my playthrough, I selected these two upgrades, Rapid Fire and Three Birds One Arrow, which completely changed Hawkeye’s shooting style.
Hawkeye rapidly fires dual explosive arrows to quickly take down a group instead of picking them off one by one. If the enemies surround you, you can always unsheathe your katana and push them back. The Aero-Barrier formed after firing a Hypersonic arrow lets you block incoming attacks. Furthermore, Hawkeye’s ultimate ability is ideal for fighting against the elite Sentry bots and the master Ultron himself.
Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, is out for blood after losing her brother Pietro to Ultron. What makes her one of the best characters in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Age of Ultron mode is the significantly increased range of abilities. So, you can now suck the life out of a group without breaking a sweat in the PvE mode.
In addition, Wanda can switch her Chthonian Burst with Sorcerer Supreme with the Multitasking upgrade. So, yes, you can use one of the best team-up abilities in Marvel Rivals non-stop along with her primary attack. It is super easy to take down a group, and Mystic Projection helps her reposition on the battlefield. Although her Reality Erasure Ultimate Ability is great against robotic foes, you need to time it right, or a slight disturbance can cancel the ult.
Captain America

Steve Rogers leads the way in the war against Ultron and his robotic army, like in the Captain America movies. With the right upgrades, his Super-Soldier Slam attacks are imbued with Kinetic Charges, allowing you to unleash a wave of kinetic energy as you land a shield attack. Therefore, he is a good pick if you like to tackle the Sentry bots crowd.
However, Captain America falls behind his comrades in boss battles. You have to keep chasing Ultron, and landing hits is a struggle. So, if you are playing Cap, you need to be a team player and focus on clearing the horde with your abilities. In boss fights, you can assist your teammates to take down Ultron.
Thor

Thor was a force to be reckoned with in the second Avengers movie. However, he isn’t the same God of Thunder in Avengers: Age of Ultron mode in Marvel Rivals. He retains the same kit from the base game and Blood Hunt mode, and struggles against the swarm of enemies even with all the upgrades. You always need to rely on his Lightning Realm and Awakening Rune to do some meaningful damage.
Once again, another Vanguard falls short when it comes to aerial battles. Thor has a hard time against elite Sentries in the final waves and Ultron in the two boss battles. Nevertheless, Thor’s God of Thunder Ultimate Ability is quite good for dealing with the Sentry army. Overall, Thor is an average Vanguard, so pick him up only if you are a Thor main.
Black Widow

While the newly reworked Black Widow has climbed to the S-tier in the Marvel Rivals Season 9 tier list, this character isn’t the right match for the Avengers: Age of Ultron mode. With her Red Room Rifle, she can deal a good amount of damage. However, the other abilities in her kit aren’t enough to create an impact on the battlefield.
On the same note, it’s tough to use her new Assassin’s Focus Ultimate Ability when surrounded by a group. Even with all the upgrades, Black Widow is still a weak pick for Marvel Rivals Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode.
