Full Marvel Rivals Cyclops Kit and Abilities Explained

  • Role: Duelist
  • Difficulty: 2 stars
  • Health: 275 HP

After being rumored to be in the game for a long time, the fearless X-Men leader is finally here in Marvel Rivals Season 8.5. Cyclops is a blend of the best features of Phoenix and Moon Knight and can deal serious damage in no time. Luckily, NetEase didn’t complicate the hero like Black Cat; he only has a 2-star difficulty as his kit and abilities are very straightforward. So anyone can easily learn and start playing as Cyclops in the new season.

As everyone expected, Cyclops’ kit is designed based on his Concussive Optic Blasts. His kinetic force attacks are released in different forms and react differently based on the ability you perform. Cyclops is a hitscan hero like Hela, so all the optic blasts and concussive beams you unleash land instantly and deal a great amount of damage, which makes him a scary Duelist in the Marvel Rivals tier list.

Cyclops can shoot quick bursts of kinetic force as a primary attack. Or you can press right-click to continuously shoot a beam that ricochets between enemies and even the environment. He can also use his kinetic force to his advantage to quickly move on the battlefield with the Propulsion Burst and Optic Ascent abilities. With that said, here is a complete list of Cyclops’ abilities in Marvel Rivals:

How to Play Cyclops in Marvel Rivals: Best Gameplay Tips and Tricks

As we mentioned earlier, Cyclops is a mix of Moon Knight and Phoenix. Being a hitscan poke hero, Cyclops needs to position himself in the middle and not lean forward into the frontline. With Cyclops’ fundamentals covered, here are our best tips and tricks for playing him in Marvel Rivals:

Switch Between Optic Blasts and Concussive Beams

The Optic Blast and Concussive Beams are the bread and butter combo of Cyclops. Either take the high ground or secure a good position and then start shooting your beams. Always remember, Optic Blasts for single-target and Concussive Beams for multiple targets.

Rely on your beam attacks, continue poking the enemies with your beams, and keep the enemies distracted. Therefore, prioritize applying pressure and weakening the enemies in front of you. Keep in mind that there is a damage falloff for Cyclops if the distance between him and the target is long. Outside of his primary attacks, two out of his three abilities are movement-focused.

Use Ricochet Force as a Finisher

Although Ricochet Force deals a good amount of damage, save it for later. Whenever you see an enemy with few HP left, either after unleashing your ultimate or after hitting successive shots, use Ricochet Force to secure the kill against heroes who have lower health. It is a highly reliable technique as the diffracting beam automatically tracks and attacks the enemy without missing.

Master Your Movement

Unlike Moon Knight, Cyclops is blessed with significant movement abilities that are useful in repositioning, as well as fleeing from battles. Therefore, begin practicing Propulsion Burst and Optic Ascent, which will set you apart from other Cyclops players.

These two abilities are truly vital for successfully escaping the battlefield when hunted by the enemy squad. Avoid moving straight; you can move omnidirectionally with your LShift ability. And use your Optic Ascent to ascend to a height and hold your right click to unleash Concussive Beams against flying enemies while in the game.

Keep Maintaining High Ground and Distance from the Front Line

Similar to Moon Knight, you need to keep your distance from the front line and use your optic blasts to hurt enemies. Because if you get close, the brawl tanks can easily take down Cyclops. At the same time, use your mobility options to take high ground and keep poking the enemies.

Time Your Ultimate

Finally, Cyclops’ Ruby Rage is one of the best ultimates in Marvel Rivals. I know that this phrase gets thrown around whenever a new hero debuts. But Cyclops’ Ruby Rage is truly a game-changing, devastating ultimate ability. When a group of enemies gets stuck in the Cyclops’ ult path, it is guaranteed that the Duelists and Strategist will be eliminated.

The remaining Vanguard heroes can be taken down with a single Optic Blast shot. So, don’t waste your precious ultimate by mistiming it. Instead, wait for the right moment when the enemy squad is in groups and struggling (in low HP), then take off your visors to quickly annihilate them.

Team-up with Wolverine

Cyclops’ team-up with Wolverine is one of the best team-ups in Marvel Rivals. So put those Red Adamantium claws to use! Always ask your friend or a random online player to pick a Wolverine if you are playing Cyclops. The supercharged Adamantium claws are overpowered right now, and Wolverine can shred the tanks and the rest while you assist him with your beams.

Moreover, Cyclops isn’t a combo-focused character. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about executing the perfect combos to secure kills. Your aim matters more than the combo, so practice headshots with Cyclops in the practice arena.

So, your regular gameplay loop looks like shooting optic and concussive beams alternatively > use Ricochet Force > adjust position or escape with Propulsion Burst and Optic Ascent > unleash the ultimate by taking off your visors.
