With Nintendo keeping a tight lip on any NX details, no one knows whether the system will be utilizing discs, going all digital, or following in the vein of the 3DS with cartridges. A recent trademark seems to indicate the latter, unless the Wii U is about to get some cartridge add-on.

Twitter account AllGamesDelta has combed through the trademark filing and highlighted the spot where “video game cartridges” is listed. While this doesn’t explicitly mean the NX will be using cartridges, I’m not sure what else this could represent.

If you’d like to take a look for yourself, DocDroid has the PDF with all of the information. Until Nintendo starts talking the NX, no one will know the truth. Maybe we’ll get a special gold cartridge like the NES classics? That would be pretty sweet.
