Bit less client inception happening now

Many people really, really hate Ubisoft’s uPlay platform. It’s seen as an unnecessary thing that stands between people and their games, especially when combined with a second client like Steam.

Launching a uPlay-enabled game through Steam will actually only open up the uPlay client to let you then choose to launch the game – it’s all a massive pain in the arse.

It now looks like Ubisoft has realised that, as the latest update to the client has made it a bit less intrusive. Now when you launch a uPlay game through Steam or a shortcut, the client will open in the background, while the game itself launches properly for you to play. No more opening a client to open a client to open a game.

The update also has some other updates, such as an improved installing and downloading process, which are explained on the Ubisoft forum. That said, the biggest update is definitely that you won’t need to fuck about with uPlay quite as much as you had to before.

It’s not quite the ideal of removing it completely, but it’s a start.
