
Japan has been making every effort to conserve electricity after the earthquakes and tsunami that struck the country last month. While they’re making progress lately it is believed that the country could expect energy shortages for half a year. All the world is pulling for Japan to get back on track soon, but it’s possible that things will still be in a delicate state this fall, when Tokyo Game Show 2011 starts.
There’s no plans to cancel TGS yet, but there’s a chance it could open in a reduced state. TGS officials told Kotaku that they’re not thinking of making the show smaller, though the did say, “Depending on the situation from here on out, it is possible that the show is reduced.”
We still have plans to cover the September event in Tokyo, Japan. The gamer in us hopes that things will be fine so that the event can be just as flashy and insane as it always has, but our first concern is with the people of Japan, especially the victims of the disasters. Take care of them first, and then we’ll worry about this silly game show.
