October 14 is the new release date

If indecision frightens you, then there’s plenty to be scared of when it comes to The Evil Within. Originally slated for an August release, Bethesda pushed it back to October 21. Now that we’re a bit closer to that window, the publisher decided to move the date again, but not nearly as drastically.

Bethesda announced at QuakeCon that The Evil Within will be terrorizing store shelves on October 14. It’s already a packed month as far as high-profile releases go, but the move likely came as an effort to dodge the terrifyingly crowded October 7 and 21 dates. Seven days might not seem like much, but it makes all the difference in the world when you’re going up against some of 2014’s heaviest hitters.
