Escape into that thing you liked once

Sometimes while I sit at my white collar job in a gorgeous skyscraper office doing nothing in particular, I, too, feel bored with my life and remember how much I used to like Star Wars.

The new Battlefront (and the new films series) knows its audience, of course. The same 30-40 year-old contingent with spending power that wants real hard to retreat into fluffy, warm nostalgia and just for a bit escape the bitter winter of reality.

Its why there are 666 more comic book and nerd-adjacent films coming out before the year ends and why Avengers, Avengers 2, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Star Wars: Episode 1 and, yes, Star Wars are all among the top 9 domestic grossing films of all time. Also that garbage-ass Jurassic World. Meanwhile Kevin Costner’s seminal Waterworld only made $88.2M domestically (plus $176M abroad), only good for #719 on the domestic list. Tragic.

Mostly I’m just miffed I have to come up with a costume for a Star Wars-themed dress-up party next month. Maybe I should buy one of Bethesda’s burlap sack Fallout 4 dresses.
