Supernova developers unsure on the decision to include a forfeit feature in their MOBA

The debate between MOBA studios rages on
Recommended VideosRight now, there’s a debate going on within the MOBA community regarding a forfeit feature. Currently, Dota 2 does not have any forfeit mechanic in place, among other titles like Heroes of the Storm, which Blizzard says “is so short, you don’t need one.” League of Legends however has a feature that allows players to concede a match after 20 minutes. This is still a relatively hot topic, as a lot of gamers aren’t willing to put in the time a MOBA requires if they have to constantly “play out” matches where they have no chance.
I had a chance to speak to Zoltan Zsuffa of Primal Games, the developer of the upcoming MOBA Supernova on the issue. When asked on whether or not Supernova would host an option for a team for forfeit, he responded, “right now we’re unsure on what’s best for our community, so we’re going to be monitoring feedback closely to decide.”
When pressed for an answer regarding what he thought was ideal, he noted “we do have the option in our current alpha, but we’ll have to see if it makes it in the full version.”
Personally, I think there are pros and cons to each system. In League, I’ve seen many games where players will see a matchup they think is impossible to counter, and then wait the “token 20 minutes” so they can forfeit immediately. If you’re on one of those “we give up” teams, it’s a complete waste of time. I’m a “never say die” kind of guy, and I think MOBAs inherently require a certain degree of commitment, so I’m used to it.
But I can see the other side. A lot of people don’t view MOBAs in the same light, and add the lack of a forfeit feature to the giant pile of reasons why they dislike the genre. I also don’t have a major problem with it as an option. What do you think?
