Stringer: Sony was attacked for protecting its content
Sony CEO Howard Stringer has addressed the PlayStation Network hack attack once more, asserting that Sony was victimized just for attempting to protect its content. He made the claim are a shareholder meeting, where he was grilled over the PSN situation.
“We believe that we first became the subject of attack because we tried to protect our IP (intellectual property), our content, in this case video games,” he said. “These are our corporate assets, and there are those that don’t want us to protect them, they want everything to be free.”
Yeah, well maybe if Sony spent just a little more time protecting its network instead of its content, Stringer wouldn’t be making these statements to a group of shareholders who want to see him step down as CEO. Just saying.
