Spread across the four seasons in Stardew Valley, there are a total of 34 birthdays to remember. Why remember them? Because giving a loved gift to a villager on their birthday will provide a huge boost in friendship, meaning you can earn hearts much quicker.

Remembering the birthdays of friends is a pretty basic requirement of friendship, but with so many to remember it can be hard to keep track. While you can check the board outside Pierre’s General Store at any time, it’s still easy to miss a day while going about your daily farm life. 

Universally loved gifts in Stardew Valley

Before getting into each villager and their respective preferred gifts, it’s worth remembering that there are some universally loved gifts that will elicit a happy response from almost every villager. These gifts are:

  • Golden Pumpkin
  • Magic Rock Candy
  • Pearl
  • Prismatic Shard
  • Rabbit’s Foot

The exceptions are:

  • Haley hates Prismatic Shard
  • Penny hates Rabbit’s Foot

It’s also worth remember that Stardrop Tea is also a universally loved gift, but giving this comes with an additional perk. If given on a birthday, you’re guaranteed to get you three hearts of friendship with the recipient. On top of this, you can also give an additional gift on top of the Stardrop Tea.
