Portal 2 had a wall-walking gel that made players sick

Gels are the big new addition to Portal 2, bestowing all sorts of physics-defying nonsense upon the player. According to writer Eric Wolpaw, one gel that was cut from the final game allowed Chell to walk on walls, but it made people too sick.
According to Wolpaw, “While this added a new twist to the game, the effect was so disorientating that it made people nauseous.” Valve took this complaint so seriously that it worked on combating nausea even after the gel was cut, changing the framerate and physics to “help anyone play Portal 2, even if they do experience a feeling of nausea while playing other first-person games.”
Wall-walking is always a problem in games, especially first-person ones. The closest I think an FPS has gotten to making a playable wall-walker is Aliens vs. Predator and its Xenomorphs. Even then, your mileage may vary. I’m fine with it, but I don’t blame anybody wanting to spew some up-chuck all over their hands and controller.
