Over the last few weeks and months, a slew of changes have either been implemented or outlined in Pokémon Go, such as additions like the Lucky Trinket, the Gold Bottle Cap, and the incoming increase of the level cap from 50 to 80. Pokémon Go is clearly in flux as it changes ownership, and its players have mixed opinions.

Ch-ch-changes

Fans have recently reported several small quality-of-life changes in Pokémon Go, including adjustments to the position of Poké Balls and Berries during Pokémon captures, as well as the addition of “Super Effective” and “Not Very Effective” labels next to different Attacks during battles.

Additionally, one major change appears when you assess your Pokémon, as the development team has shifted the location of two important bits of information: the ball you caught the Pokémon in, and the location you caught it. The latter of which is causing some big problems for IRL Pokémon Go streamers, who are not concerned about doxxing themselves during streams.

While you can cover the middle "location" on Pokemon by appraising them, this doesn't take away from safety for streamers who may not want their location live which makes it nearly impossible. But our gifts give even specific location data and we do use this everyday, thoughts? pic.twitter.com/uEfRrkgRD9

One comment from player @AshleeTArtist says, “While you can cover the middle “location” on Pokemon by appraising them, this doesn’t take away from safety for streamers who may not want their location live which makes it nearly impossible.”

They’re far from the only ones with concerns, however, as one popular content creator’s post led to some heated discussions. Player and creator g47ix posted to X with the comment, “Two QOL features that were in tests a few months ago seem to be live globally now!”

Underneath the aforementioned post are some curt community comments, with people saying things like “I hate it,” “both awful,” and even the dramatic “Defo not QOL, worst updates they’ve done to the game.”

In slightly more constructive feedback, one person commented, “I don’t like the location details being higher up than the moves, personally, the moves are just more important information about the Pokémon.”

However, there are also some comments celebrating the changes, even if they are much less common. A comment under one post by Leekduck says, “This is actually pretty nice,” while another person added, “Item tray is a W.”

Regardless, Pokémon Go fans complaining about Pokémon Go is hardly anything new, but at least a few fans had the energy to put together some better ideas for changes to the title. Not only this, but we have our own thoughts on some smaller tweaks that would make life easier for the ardent PoGo players out there.

The conversation around QoL in Pokémon GO is growing fast 👀I’ve listed the changes that would make the biggest impact for trainers worldwide 🌎if we really want the game to thrive.🎊 Here’s what needs to come next. Much more could be done

In response to the recent changes, creator AshleeTArtist once again posted, this time with some suggestions for helpful changes to Pokémon Go. These include:

  • Remote Trading
  • When inviting people to Raids, show people who have already met the daily raid limit, or do not let them even show up.
  • Display chosen medals on player profiles, so everyone can show off their favorite medals
  • Changes to the Showcase Criteria, so anything other than XXL gets the spotlight. Things XXS Pokémon, the oldest, caught the furthest away, etc
  • Being able to organise the Friends list, either moving people or making groups

I have more suggestions. First up, I would love the ability to auto-attack the Fast Attack in Raids. Not during PvP, and not the Charged Move. I just want the regular old Fast-Attack to be automatic during Raids, because we’re all going to just be tapping like crazy to spam it anyway. It’s tiring and pointless.

Next up, I want to be able to skip evolution animations or tag and mass-evolve multiple Pokémon. Now, there is one good reason this won’t happen, and that’s because people would likely spam evolution to gain XP. Especially during 2x Evolve XP events like Spotlight Hour.

I know of many people who just open Pokémon Go on multiple devices and evolve Pokémon quickly anyway. So, I don’t think just making evolution easier and quicker in general would be a bad thing.

There is already a hard limit of 40 gifts daily, so there’s no way this can be abused. But the work and time needed to open all of those gifts means I often just leave them, and I don’t increase my friendship levels with other Trainers. I would absolutely love an option to open your daily maximum amount of gifts, and then mass send gifts in return, with your choice of stickers. This one doesn’t feel outlandish in any way, and if anything, I think it would better connect the many players still left in the game.
