Amazon primes another live action video game series with upcoming Life is Strange adaptation
Amazon continues its hectic schedule of scooping up gaming IP to adapt into TV series today, locking in a deal with Square Enix to adapt Life is Strange.
Recommended VideosAfter confirming Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in its Tomb Raider series, Amazon MGM Studios has now greenlit the episodic narrative adventure series for an adaptation on Prime Video from showrunner Charlie Covell.

Covell has previously worked on TV series Kaos and The End of the F*cking World, and will be working with Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap as producers to bring the game to a new medium.
“It’s a huge honor to be adapting ‘Life Is Strange’ for Amazon MGM Studios,” Covell said. “I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen and LuckyChap. I can’t wait to share Max and Chloe’s story with fellow players and new audiences alike.”
The 2015 game spawned a few sequels and spin-offs, most recently Life is Strange: Double Exposure. It’s got a fervent fanbase who found themselves attached to the characters within it, so as usual, adapting them will be a daunting task for those in charge. It’s unclear what involvement, if any, developer Dontnod Entertainment will have in the show.
Life is Strange will join Tomb Raider, God of War, Mass Effect, and Warhammer as gaming IP series in development at Amazon. The second season of Fallout, meanwhile, will premiere later this year.
I’ve not played Life is Strange myself, but a friend of mine who’s a mega fan said she hopes that “the dialogue better stay cringe as fuck.” What say you, dear reader?
