‘Turbo Charged’ patch 1.1 is live

Kerbal Space Program is one of the most daunting video games I’ve ever taken on, but I am so glad I made an effort to dig in, actually learn a thing or two about real-world orbital mechanics, and gain a new appreciation for how scary-insane it is to get living beings safely into space (a huge feat!) and then back home without running out of fuel or crashing on the way down. It’s in a class of its own.

I’m also glad developer Squad has continued supporting Kerbal with free updates, allowing the community to really do its thing and make the game extra special, especially for new players.

This week’s patch, 1.1, is significant — it brings a new user interface “rewritten from the ground up to take full advantage of Unity 5’s new integrated systems,” better performance, revised tutorials and scenarios, and the “KSPedia.” Another big deal: “64 bit binaries for Windows and OSX that will help you mod the game to ridiculous lengths.”

Steam and KSP Store players have the update already, and by the time you read this post, the content should be live for any other third-party platforms hosting Kerbal as well. Boldly go!
