It’s easy to miss the save spot in Hollow Knight: Silksong. While the game shows you an icon when it’s saving, it may still not help you find exactly when and how to save your progress.

You can save in Silksong by pressing up next to a rest bench. This bench looks like a small altar with a backrest made of shells (that actually look like bones), and it will show a balloon with “Rest” on top of it when you approach it. When you press up next to the bench, Hornet will sit, and you’ll see the save icon pop up on the bottom right of your screen and hear a high-pitched chime at the same time. You’ll also recover Hornet’s health.

All that happens pretty quickly and without any prompt like “Would you like to save your game?”, which is why it’s easy to miss and think you haven’t saved it. If for any reason you want to heal but don’t want to save on a certain spot, you can’t. You’ll heal and save at once whenever you sit on a bench.

The first save bench in Silksong is to the left of the area that triggers Hornet feeling unwell for the second time. Just keep walking to the left, and you’ll see a bright area with the bench.
