How to get Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley

If there’s one thing you’re going to need a lot of in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s Dream Shards. It’s needed in a lot of quests and crafts, so having a stockpile of this precious resource is never a bad thing.
Recommended VideosIt can be hard to figure out where Dream Shards come from, especially if you’ve just begun your adventures in the Valley. Thankfully, there are a few different ways to get Dream Shards, and none of them will cost a single Star Coin.
How to get Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Image by DestructoidThere are three things that you can do to get Dream Shards:
Digging sparkling holes
At any time, three sparkling holes will spawn in each biome of the Valley. These can be dug up using your Royal Shovel, and will yield either Dream Shards of Night Shards. Regardless of which type of Shard you get, you’ll get between one and two per hole.
Feeding critters
All types of critters in the Valley or on Eternity Isle have a chance to drop Dream Shards when given a liked or loved food. The number you can get depends on each animal, and how much they enjoy the meal:

Night Thorns, which grow in the Valley, or Splinters of Fate, which grow on Eternity Isle, can both drop Dream Shards when they’re removed. Dream Shards are one a lot of different items which can drop from them, so this is a less reliable method.
Regardless of which type of obstacle you’re trying to remove, you can possibly get either one or two Dream Shards per obstacle removed.
How to use Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by DestructoidThe only regular crafting recipe which calls for Dream Shards is Purified Night Shards, which need five Night Shards and one Dream Shard to make.
