Pokemon Go, Niantic’s hit augmented reality mobile game, offers fans of the popular franchise a unique way of collecting Pokemon. Players can not only encounter new Pokemon and add them to their collection, but they can also engage in battles against Team Rocket.

Moreover, it is also possible in Pokemon Go to compete in trainer battles against other players. The game offers three different leagues: Great League, Ultra League, and Master League. These leagues are categorised based on the Combat Power of Pokemon you can select for battle.

Trainer battle requirements in Pokemon Go

You can only take part in the Great League by using Pokemon which does not have a CP higher than 1,500. You can join an Ultra League match with Pokemon that have individual CP between 1,500-2,500. Master League increases the eligibility criteria to a Pokemon having a minimum of 2,500 CP and there is no maximum CP limit in Master League.

Unlock Master League in Pokemon Go

To compete in any of these leagues, you need to be a level 10 player in Pokemon Go. Furthermore, you require at least three Pokemon with CP between 1,500-2,500 to compete in Ultra League.

To unlock Master League, you need at least three Pokemon that have over 2,500 CP in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go occasionally offers themed League battles as well, which limit the choice of Pokemon you can take for battles. These seasonal leagues are focused on Pokemon types such as Grass, Ice, and Wind, challenging players to be more creative and engage in battles with other Pokemon other than their fixed trio of favourite Pokemon.
