With the Firebrand making his triumphant return to the spotlight in the upcoming Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3,  it makes sense that Capcom would choose now to re-release some of the titular gargoyle’s other games. Gargoyle’s Quest was the first title to star the iconic Ghosts ‘n Goblins common enemy, but it wasn’t the last. I hope this re-release, presumably headed to to the 3DS’s virtual console, leads to the Gargoyle’s Quest II (originally on the NES) and Demon’s Crest (originally on the SNES) hitting digital download services as well.

On a side note, I worry about just about all of the original Gameboy games re-released on the 3DS’s Virtual Console. Can black-and-white graphics meet the standards of modern gamers, or is nostalgia a prerequisite for the purchase of Gameboy title in 2011? Indie games Tower of Heaven and Time Fcuk both did well, despite their use of monochrome visuals, but those games are available for free.

How many people today think that black-and-white games are worth buying?
