It seems Rockstar Games have caught wind of the success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and added their own take on it in the form of “Motor Wars” in the latest “Smuggler’s Run” update for Grand Theft Auto Online (which is available now). This new game mode they’ve introduced essentially mimics the mechanics of other battle royale games and will most likely continue to secure GTA V‘s weekly top 10 sales ranks across the world for years to come.

The players are broken up into four teams, parachute out of a plane, and a giant kill box periodically shrinks as the game goes on. Players will be able to find various weapons strewn about, as well as explosives, and weaponized vehicles to spice things up.

Personally, when I first began to witness the rise in popularity of PUBG, I remember immediately thinking to myself: “I bet this would be pretty cool in GTA Online.” It seems Rockstar Games thought the exact same thing. I’m just amazed how quick they were able to implement it.

I wonder if Red Dead Redemption 2‘s multiplayer will have a similar mode as well? A wild west variant to PUBG just sounds like a money-printing idea if you ask me.
