Galaxy Trail’s fantastic Freedom Planet is coming to Wii U on August 3, according to the Nintendo eShop page. No price has currently been announced, but the game costs £10.99/$14.99 on PC.

We’ve been told for a while now that the Wii U version would be coming “before the end of 2015”, so getting it to us five months earlier than expected is pretty impressive!

A lot of people compare Freedom Planet to the older Sonic the Hedgehog games. While I can certainly see the resemblance, Freedom Planet feels slower and often focuses more on combat and platforming rather than simply the momentum Sonic had.

Still, if you’ve been longing for a return to those MegaDrive days, Freedom Planet is totally worth looking in to.
