Despite the fact that Rage doesn’t release for another few months, you can’t silence id Software’s John Carmack. Not even when he wants to delve into sequel talk.

GameSpot has quoted the technical director as saying “yes,” the studio is planning a follow-up to its post-apocalyptic shooter Rage. “We haven’t got a formal, official announcement, but we’re certainly headed in that direction.”

“I am working on next-generation engine technology and what we’ll be doing with graphics when we start really rethinking it. It’s likely that the project after Doom 4, the next major one, will be designed around being cross-generational.”

He said Doom 4! *swoons*
