A couple weeks back, we gave you guys a heads-up in regards to Jake “virt” Kaufman’s latest chiptune album. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available for download at the time. Now that it’s been out for a few days, I thought I’d give everyone a friendly reminder.

FX4 is a concept album that tells a kooky J. J. Abrams-level backstory about a naval reclamation operation and a time vampire who pilots a WWII fighter. Naturally, the story is told entirely through the music, so unless you’ve got the liner notes open on your screen, it may as well be about tap-dancing dolphins. None of that matters, as virt is the kind of artist who can effortlessly draw you into his world. From his videogame fan arrangements to his official soundtracks, the man is pretty much a living legend, and this release doesn’t deviate from the high benchmark he’s set in the past.

The album is pay-as-you-want, so there’s no excuse for not copping some of that old-school, Konami-inspired chippy goodness.
