Dexter composer Licht talks Silent Hill: Downpour score

Silent Hill: Downpour will mark a change for the franchise in a number of ways, most notably the absence of a soundtrack music written by Akira Yamaoka.
With Yamaoka resigning from Konami in 2009 and heading to Grasshopper Manufacture (his music can be heard in Shadows of the Damned, hitting stores next week), Konami searched for new blood. It turned to accomplished film and television composer, Daniel Licht.
“Obviously Akira Yamaoka had a big following with Silent Hill,” Licht told Hollie Bennett at E3 last week, “and Konami wanted to find a composer that had a different following. And I developed a bit of a following because I do the music for the show Dexter.”
For fans of that show, Licht’s sounds are immediately recognizable, from the opening theme to the various character themes that play throughout. While Yamaoka’s contributions will be missed by longtime fans, Licht does note that he sees “certain similarities” between Dexter‘s and Silent Hill‘s scores.
