Dark Souls hit Japan this week, but it was far from a smooth launch. The game’s been plagued with freezing issues, the whole thing tending to lock up once players go online. From Software has taken the servers down while it works on a patch to fix the source of the issues.

Japanese gamers are unsatisfied, and have let their disappointment be known. Forty-nine one-star reviews currently sit on Dark Souls‘ Amazon page, versus the forty-seven 5-star summaries. I guess when you design an unforgiving game, you breed unforgiving gamers!

Hopefully the Western launch will not be quite so troubled.
