To start, you should not be tied to just one class in this game. Others will most likely have tastes similar to yours. If your main is taken and you have little to no experience with the others, you could be a hindrance to your team. So, here are the best beginner classes to start with in Space Marine 2:

This is quite literally the Standard-Issue class that can sort of do everything. You have access to all the bolt-style weapons in the game, along with a sidearm and the Chainsword. You can build this class around the guns and support, providing good team damage but also decent clearing against tougher enemies.
If you’re more about standard rifle play, the Tactical class is the way to go. The later perks you unlock will make you more of a specialist if you desire.

If you like to play melee in this game and perform constant finishers, the Bulwark is a must-play. You’re assuming the role of a support tank that can push forward into densely packed enemy areas. You don’t have many ranged options other than your sidearm, so your focus is to deal with anything that comes within melee range to you and your allies.
Let your teammates deal with anything that shoots projectiles as you hold the masses down. With a shield and lots of damage reduction perks, you’ll take so much heat and dish it back out to your enemies.

The heavy is the ranged version of the Bulwark. If you want to play something a bit safer but at the cost of speed, this is the class for you. Mowing down waves of enemies at mid or far ranges, depending on your weapons, can make you quite versatile, too.
This class is not as strong as the previous two, but it can definitely hold its own in a pinch with the Iron Halo ability and proper team composition.
