Let's look at the best anime/video game memes from the Paris Olympics

The summer Olympics are coming to a close, so what better way to keep them in our mind until the next time than via hilarious memes made by Netizens who were too tired to compete but still too funny to stay quiet? Let’s take a look at how so many helped make the best moments in the Olympics even more memorable, shall we?
Recommended VideosThe first and greatest source of memeage was the sharpshooting competition, which quickly saw the shooters being turned into video game characters, like Disco Elysium’s Kim Kitsuragi below:

— Luisiiki (@luisiiki) July 31, 2024I can't believe the Eusan Nation sent a Replika without any specialist equipment for shooting, looking like she just came out of the crowd and gave it a go… and then casually taking home silver at the Olympics…#SIGNALIS pic.twitter.com/Rfcdf7CBuj
— Joetastic #Mouthwashing brainrot era👄🧼 (@Joetastic_) August 1, 2024They also quickly split these shooters into various anime categories,

— Luke Chaos (@Luke_Chaos) August 1, 2024which naturally evolved into them all getting their beautiful anime counterparts:

— わしん (@Washin_DD) August 2, 2024and it all culminated in an amazing poster for an anime that we’ll sadly never get to see:
If I compiled the collection of poses I've came across on my home tab, it would look like an anime poster haha pic.twitter.com/E4IiLTpAAh
— Cioccolatodorima (Comms closed atm) (@cioccolato_kun) August 2, 2024People were very quick to note how incredibly cool most of these shooters look due to their usage of cyberpunk-looking eye gear:

— Bobby (@nextgameres) August 1, 2024But when most athletes are wearing anime-grade special gear, the only special person is the guy in casual pants. Shooter Yusuf Dikeç is the undisputed meme king of this Olympics, and he did all that just by being himself.
For all I know, Dikeç might be a Hitman even better than 47 when it comes to going unnoticed, but he looks just like a regular dude wearing a regular pair of glasses. Dikeç has already become sort of a creature of myth in Japan, where aficionados are describing him to people who are just learning about Olympic shooting as something like a gamer who wins despite refusing to spend one single cent in pay-to-win add-ons.
"Free User Ojisan" (無課金おじさん) is trending in Japan as netizens react to 51-year-old Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec winning a silver medal without fancy eye gear. They're describing him like a gamer who wins without spending any money on freemium games. pic.twitter.com/L3I3AMNfB1
— Jeffrey J. Hall 🇯🇵🇺🇸 (@mrjeffu) August 1, 2024Sadly, it’s important to notice that Dikeç didn’t get the silver medal by flying solo. He was part of a duo act with teammate Sevval Ilayda, who deserves just as much recognition. Just like Dikeç, Ilayda was also either going for the highest difficulty setting – or maybe also forgot the sci-fi glasses at home and just hoped nobody would notice.
https://twitter.com/rik_ferguson/status/1820165952933175510It turns out that Dikeç looks a lot like Victor, a French character introduced in Tekken 8 who’s very good at winning because of this marvelous martial art called “shooting your unarmed opponents with a gun”. It didn’t take fans too long to also bring him to the game:

— Hi! Buff Gigas Please? (@BuffGigas) August 1, 2024Dikeç is already a legend even among Olympians. Here’s Vaulter Armand Duplantis celebrating his gold medal by emulating Dikeç’s stance.

Nice try, Armand, but you look just too hot and cool to pull it off.
I thought things wouldn’t get crazier for Olympic shooting than when Vitalina Batsarashkina took home the gold while wearing a Witcher medallion, but I was completely wrong. Still, I must remind readers that the Olympics aren’t just about shooting stuff. We also got the Japanese artistic Swimming team which nearly took home a medal by doing a routine to the tune of Nier: Automata:

— ✦ Kise ✦ (@KiseStrife) August 6, 2024The French national Fencing Team tried to conjure a group Kamehameha after winning the bronze medal.

— SUPER クロニクルス (@SupaChronicles) August 1, 2024Sources aren’t clear on whether they were celebrating or trying to coerce the judges into getting silver, but it’s a beautiful moment nonetheless.
To finalize, there was this:
Couldn't resist adding a cartoon boing to Anthony Ammirati's pole vault. What a way to clip the bar 😵 fair play to the guy. pic.twitter.com/wGPtco2fy6
— Matthew Highton (@MattHighton) August 3, 2024First off, it was Ammiratti’s leg that doomed his jump, not his peen. Secondly, I know that is not from an anime or a video game, but Matthew Highton added a nice little cartoon-like boing sound, so I hope that makes it count.
