“The Saxons hunger for Norse blood. Let’s give them a taste, brothers.” That’s what Eivor says near the end of this Assassin’s Creed Valhalla story trailer. It’s some incredible spin considering it’s the Vikings who are invading and colonizing England.

Even though restraint isn’t the Vikings’ strong suit, you’ll have to wait until 87 seconds into this trailer before something explicitly violent happens. (But that’s only if you don’t count that snowtop murder thing at the very beginning which is more of a sizzle reel effect and less about the arc of the trailer.) Don’t bore us, get to the chorus! And the chorus is people getting thwonked upside the head with a knockoff Hammer of Thor.

All in all, this is a good trailer, though. It has me ready to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in little more than a month. I can’t wait to see if Valhalla can live up to the lofty expectations of being a next-gen successor to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Those are some big shoes to fill.
