‘Rogue-lite’ inspired by Castlevania

The first 20 seconds of this trailer for Rogue Legacy had me slowly nodding my head in agreement to no one in particular. Then the real fun starts. From the makers of Don’t Shit Your Pants comes something completely different: a “rogue-lite” that builds on the generational component of Infinity Blade in a unique way.

Death results in you playing as your character’s offspring, complete with potential for traits like dyslexia and gigantism. Even if there are only a handful of variants, the idea itself is wonderful. That’s to say nothing of the various classes, skill trees, and items on offer. All told, the trailer seems to give the impression that Rogue Legacy is bigger than it probably is, but damn if it doesn’t contain a bunch of concepts I enjoy seeing in videogames.

On the Steam Greenlight page, Cellar Door Games says this “is virtually done, so we’ll get it out as soon as it’s Greenlit.” Which is somewhat disappointing, because competition is fierce and I’d love to get my hands on this sooner than later.
