What do you get when you mix classic NES game Super Mario Bros with some unsteady camera work and After Effects? A headache? Kidding! But get a dolly, man.
No, the After Effects work is really great here. As found on nowhereelse, various levels of SMB seem to be painted onto the sidewalk and curbside in this video, and you’ll watch on as Mario successfully navigates it all to get to the princess. I love how the underworld and underwater levels go down from the curb and into the sidewalk in a different angle. I also like how the camera’s perspective changed a bit toward the end, as if looking back.
