Oculus VR says it plans to close a deal to acquire product design and development consultancy Carbon Design Group by the end of summer. The companies have been working on “multiple unannounced products” for almost a year. Here’s where things get interesting.

Previously, Carbon collaborated with Microsoft on the Xbox 360 gamepad and the Kinect. At Oculus, the team will be “a key component of the product engineering group” up in Seattle.

“This is an entirely open product category,” said creative director Peter Bristol. “With consumer VR at its inception, the physical architectures are still unknown — We’re on the cutting edge of defining how virtual reality looks, feels, and functions.” Another good addition to Oculus.
